1. What hardware and software platforms does your company utilize?
Our core HSA application runs on IBM mainframes with internally owned and developed software for the account and transaction processing environment. In addition, we may also use other best-of-breed technology partners for ancillary functionality such as Web applications, report delivery, data mining and contact management.
2. How does Open Solutions keep up with change in consumer-driven health care?
We are continuously monitoring the CDHC environment, in particular from a regulatory perspective. We view the regulatory environment as rather fluid over the next several years and have prepared for adjustments to appropriate releases based on potentially changing requirements. For example, in anticipation of growing HSA balances, the initial product offering includes simple interest on balances and the option to connect with a money market fund over a targeted balance. As consumers reach a point in their HSA where they may choose to invest in vehicles that parallel a 401(k) offering, technology has been integrated to bring this capability to the consumer. From a card perspective, new technology also includes multi-purse cards that offer a convenient and easy way for consumers to pay for qualified medical expenses.
